Yes. We’ve contracted a reliable 3rd party data provider to deliver free car warranty status checks on our site. Feel free to check the status of a standard car warranty for the vehicle you select.
 
Do I get status of my own car warranty?
 
No. We only provide information about factory-standard warranty. If you’ve negotiated a better deal at the time of a purchase or were able to take advantage of other promotion- we would have no way of knowing that. All data on car warranties is strictly limited to factory-standard coverage.
 
Can I check status of my extended car warranty?
 
Unfortunately, we are only able to provide standard factory car warranty information at this time. Extended car warranty is often purchased in the aftermarket from a car dealer or from a 3rd party (non-manufacturer) repair protection provider; therefore, we are not able to check the status of any auto extended warranties, extended service plan or any other repair coverage beyond the standard auto warranties from manufacturers.
 
Can I still check warranty status if I have a used car?
 
Absolutely! Whether you have a new or used car – we are able to provide standard factory warranty information for any vehicle starting 1986. This means that we probably have used car warranty info for your vehicle. Again, we are not able to provide any used car extended warranty information or any other extended car warranty info (see above for explanation).
 
Do I have to get a service plan quote?

How do “car warranty” or “auto warranties” differ from extended service plan?
 
Car warranty, effectively, is a supplemental guarantee by the original manufacturer against breakdowns. Warranty provided by the manufacturer can only be issued by the original manufacturer. Extended service plan (sometimes incorrectly called extended car warranty or extended warranty) is a 3rd party product that is intended to provide additional coverage against breakdowns. In summary, car warranty is coverage provided by the original manufacturer and extended service plan is supplemental coverage provided by a 3rd party.

Good question. A simple answer is that auto warranty can only be issues by the original manufacturer. Any 3rd party offering repair coverage cannot extend original manufacturer’s warranty (sometimes called extended warranty). All auto extended warranty/warranties you’ve read about are probably 3rd party repair coverages offered by non-manufacturers.
 
What exactly is an extended service plan again?
 
Extended service plan is an auto protection plan offered by a 3rd party manufacturer that offers repair coverage against major breakdowns. Is there a difference between extended car warranty and extended service plan?
 
Extended service plan is an aftermarket auto breakdown protection offered by a 3rd party provider. It is often incorrectly referred to as an extended car warranty or extended warranty. Since car warranty is originally issued by the manufacturer, it can only be “extended” by one. Therefore, aftermarket 3rd party provider, by definition, cannot extend original manufacturer’s car warranty (Note: be wary of slick sales pitches of extended warranties online).

How can I recognize a legitimate repair protection provider from “auto warranty scams” I’ve been hearing about?
 
Be wary of scams on the web that claim to sell extended warranties. First, “extended warranties” is an oxymoron (see above). Second, be sure to ask about provider’s underlying insurance, years of being in business and BBB ratings. If any of the answers seem vague or unclear, don’t give in to buying “extended warranties” just because someone is offering you a short-term discount. You may be better off in the long-term if you walk away.

The information is expected to contain up-to-date status of all standard auto warranty policies issued upon vehicle purchase. No extended car warranty information is available.

Auto warranties offered by different manufacturers vary widely in coverage. For instance, some manufacturers offer protection up to 36,000 miles while others cover against repairs with auto warranty of up to 100,000 miles.
