Unless you’ve been living under a rock – you probably heard all about auto protection plans advertised on TV and radio. They all promise the world (i.e. inexpensive protection, never pay for repairs again, etc) but do they really deliver?

We’ve done some homework and put together a quick checklist of questions you should ask anyone trying to sell you an auto protection plan.

Auto Protection Questions to Ask

1. What is the total price of the policy?
2. Which parts does the policy cover?
3. Which parts does the policy NOT cover?
4. Is there a deductible?
5. Is there a grace period before the policy kicks in?
6. Is the protection policy transferable if I sell my car?
7. Are there other perks I can get for free (roadside assistance, car rental, etc)?
8. Is there a limit to the number of claims I can file?
9. Can I choose my own repair shop?
10. Where is my policy valid (states, countries)?

This is not by any means a complete list of questions you should ask a sales representative, but it does get you started.

Remember! Always get educated before you make a purchase, especially a big ticket purchase such as an auto protection plan.
