As many US Colleges are located outside the limits of the city, which has public forms of transportation, going away to school usually involves getting a proper vehicle- how else could you get a week’s worth of groceries and take the occasional trip home? So, in the Top 10 Back-to-School Cars category the 2006 Honda Civic takes first place. At retail price, this car goes for $11,600–$15,850. So not only is it affordable, but it is also resilient and reliable.
In the category of Top 10 Roads Trip Cars, the 2012 Ford Focus takes first place. It looks sporty, has a nice interior and drives well to ensure a pleasant trip.
(You may be surprised and more interested that number 10 is the Cadillac DTC Hearse- that’s right- apparently people are not put off with the idea that the best road trip of their life may just be their last!)

The 2011 Honda Odyssey takes the prize for the 2011 Best Redesigned Vehicle. This car was already collecting plenty of positive feedback but the designers managed to improve on the model in many ways: the roof line has been lowered which improved its aerodynamics and therefore fuel economy. The car was widened to aesthetic reasons, also making its interior more spacious. The designers created a split third row “Magic Seat” also improving comfort. The safety features of the car are excellent, especially for small children- there are many latches to keep the child in place and safe if an accident were to occur. And while they’re secured, nice and snug, the kids can enjoy the entertainment system. Additional amenities include a “cool box,” garbage bag ring, and bag hook. Big Win.

Affordability
According to US News rankings, the best affordable small car is the 2012 Ford Fiesta. This car has good driving dynamics, competitive interior tech for the class which is also comfortable.

According to the same review, the 2012 Ford Fusion ranks as the first in Affordable Midsize Cars. The great thing about this car is that its meant for a family but that doesn’t make it any less fun to drive, especially with those two V6 engine options.
The Number 1 Affordable Sports Car is 2012 Ford Mustang. This car gets a high ranking due to its performance and fuel economy.
