Auto protection plans developed many labels in the marketplace…in fact, there are so many different labels for the same product that we can’t keep up with all labels ourselves! We decided to demystify all of the names out there for your (and our) sake.

auto protection plan definition: service contract between vehicle owner and 3rd party service provider to cover costs of certain covered car repairs.

The same service is also known as:

• extended auto warranty (although “warranty” is not an accurate representation of the product)
• extended service plan
• repair protection plan
• aftermarket warranty protection
• extended service contract

Whatever label you use to the refer the protection plan product – be sure to educate yourself about the scope of the service as well as the purchase process.
