The Cars in Cars (the movie)
posted by InnaCars make first impressions and have a “look” to them. Attributes like “fun,” “sexy,” “beautiful” and “dinky” have been attributed the different styles of vehicles. Sometimes the characteristic is due to the design of the car, sometimes it is a nostalgic memory of the past, either way humans have attributed personalities to their cars. This has a great influence on how we choose our cars. Essentially each individual, to some extent, is choosing what car represents them. There is a good reason why you can find a hello kitty decal on a Volkswagen Beetle and not on a Ferrari.

In the movie, Cars by Pixar, animators delved into how our culture personifies our cars and gave actual personalities to their cars. Here are the characters and the cars they are based off of:
The main character, Lightning McQueen, is based of the average NASCAR stock car with influences from the Mazda Miata and Dodge Viper. Lightning can be characterized as being a talented car suffering from overconfidence.

Additionally, Hudson is based on the “Fabulous Hudson Hornet,” a car produced by Hudson Motor Car Company.

Sally is a Porsche 996. Sally was voted top ten sexiest cars in the UK Magazine, Top Gears, to be one of the world’s top ten sexiest cars. No surprise there, based on the sleek design of the Porsche 996. This take personification to a new level!
